Taijul Islam wants to be top wicket-taker for Bangladesh

News Hour:

Taijul Islam wants to be the highest wicket-taker in Bangladesh’s upcoming two-match Test series against Australia, taking advantage of home conditions.

“If Australia comes, I will try to be the highest wicket-taker in the series,” Taijul said, sharing his ambition during the Tigers’ fitness camp in Mirpur on Saturday.

“As the series will be in our conditions, we will try to take maximum advantage,” the spinner added.

Taijul, who is now focusing on the conditioning camp to improve his fitness level, expected that the wicket and conditions will be favorable for Bangladesh, just like the England series in October last.

Taijul played in both Tests of the England series and performed creditably, with 7 wickets in the series.

Enthusiastic Taijul said, expecting to get a call up to the final squad against Australia.

Ahead of the Test series against Australia at home and for an away series in South Africa, the Tigers formally started their conditioning camp at Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Academy Ground on July 10 (Monday).

Australians are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on August 18 to play two Tests against the Tigers in Dhaka and Chittagong.

After the expected Test series against Australia, Bangladesh will tour South Africa to play two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is in September-October.
