Daihatsu announces a complete redesign of the Altis passenger car

News Hour:

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. launched the new, fully redesigned Altis passenger car nationwide on July 10. After making an OEM deal with Toyota Motor Corporation, the Altis was released in May 2012 as Daihatsu’s first hybrid passenger car.

The fully redesigned Altis uses Daihatsu’s newly developed platform and powertrain and features an updated interior and exterior. By highlighting the vehicle’s low center of gravity and wide stance, the exterior has evolved into a sporty, stylish design; at the same time, there is a greater sense of quality in the vehicle’s spacious interior.

The Altis realizes both outstanding performance and comfort. An optimized driving position improves visibility, while luggage capacity has been increased by positioning the hybrid system battery beneath the rear seat.

The newly developed 2.5-liter engine achieves a significantly improved fuel efficiency of 28.4 km. In order to realize a high-quality ride, NV performance, steering stability, and comfort have been enhanced. As far as safety is concerned, the Altis is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense and has been developed to attain a five-star rating on the JNCAP collision safety performance tests.
