Germany expressed its readiness to collaborate closely with the new administration and parliament and congratulated Tarique Rahman, the chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), on his election victory today. The country also praised Bangladeshi people for their significant political involvement.
“We congratulate Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on the election victory,” read a message, issued by the German embassy in Dhaka.
The German government also praised the active participation of the Bangladeshi people in the electoral process.
“We also commend the people of Bangladesh for their participation in the electoral process — a meaningful expression of democratic engagement — and extend our congratulations to all newly elected Members of Parliament,” the statement added.
Germany expressed its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh under the newly elected leadership.
“Germany looks forward to working closely with the new government and the Jatiya Sangsad to further strengthen our political and economic ties, and to continue supporting Bangladesh on its path of democratic reforms and development,” the embassy said.
