EC publishes gazette of newly elected MPs

The Election Commission (EC) has published a gazette notification on the results of the 13th National Elections with details of 297 newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs).

The gazette was issued on Friday night under the signature of Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Akhtar Ahmed.

According to the notification, in accordance with clause (4) of Article 39 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972 (President’s Order No. 155 of 1972), the Bangladesh Election Commission has published the names of the candidates elected as Members of the National Parliament.

The gazette includes detailed information about the elected representatives, including their names, fathers’ or husbands’ names, mothers’ names, and addresses, as well as the constituencies from which they were elected.

The BNP won 209 seats with its alliance partners Gano Odhikar Parishad, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), and Gano Sanghati Andalon, when the votes were held on February 12th.

While its alliance partners, the National Citizen Party (NCP), won six seats, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis won two, and Khelafat Majlish won one, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami emerged as the major opposition party with 68 seats on its own.

Seven constituencies were won by independent candidates, while Islami Andolon Bangladesh secured one seat.
