High Court scraps Nahid’s writ against BNP candidate Quayum

The National Citizen Party (NCP) chairman and 11-party coalition candidate Nahid Islam filed a writ case, but the High Court (HC) denied it today, affirming the legitimacy of his opponent, BNP-nominated candidate MA Quayum, in the Dhaka-11 constituency.

The ruling, which summarily dismissed the writ filed over Quayum’s alleged dual citizenship, was issued by a High Court division bench made up of Justices Fahmida Quader and Md Ashif Hasan.

Senior advocate Ahsanul Karim and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal argued for MA Quayum, while Mohammad Hossain Lipu stood for Nahid.
