Gold tops $4,500 for first time on rate cut bets, geopolitics

In Asian trading on Wednesday, vintage prices surpassed $4,500 amid growing tensions between the US and Venezuela and hopes that the Federal Reserve will keep lowering interest rates next year.

The precious metal continued a rally that has seen it rise more than 70 percent since the beginning of 2025, reaching a top of $4,519.78.
