The Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD) reports that at 10:38 a.m. today, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in the nation’s capital and numerous other areas.
It stated that Madhabdi in Narsingdi, 13 km east of the BMD Seismic Center in Agargaon, Dhaka, was the epicentre of the earthquake.
However, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) verified that the epicenter was situated at a depth of 10 kilometers and 14 kilometers west-southwest of Narsingdi.
Residents in various parts of Dhaka fled outside in a panic after the unexpected shock. People fled their homes, workplaces, and business buildings as a precaution, even though the tremor only lasted a few seconds.
There have been no early reports of structural damage or casualties.
