Govt approves 28 holidays for 2026 

The suggested list of 28 holidays for the year 2026 was approved by the Council of Advisers today, reports BSS.

Eleven holidays, however, fell on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays).

The approval was made during the Council of Advisers’ 47th meeting, which was chaired by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus and took place at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO) here.

At a briefing this afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy in this city, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam disclosed the information following the meeting.

“There are fourteen general holidays and fourteen executive order holidays. The officials would actually enjoy 17 government holidays in total because 11 of them fall on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays), he claimed.
