On Monday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and US President Donald Trump inked a deal pertaining to rare earth minerals in Australia.
Trump will apply an additional 100% duty on imports from China starting next month in response to China’s new limitations on rare earth shipments, which coincide with the agreement.
“In about a year from now, we’ll have so much critical mineral and rare earths that you won’t know what to do with them,” Trump told reporters at the White House.
The leaders signed the treaty in front of the media as Trump was hosting Albanese at the White House this morning.
The agreement, according to Albanese, is a $8.5 billion pipeline “that we have ready to go.”
