Japan parties sign deal for Takaichi-led coalition

Sanae Takaichi will become Japan’s first female premier after the ruling LDP and its junior partner inked a coalition agreement on Monday.

A day before the lower house was scheduled to vote on the next prime minister, Takaichi and Hirofumi Yoshimura, co-leader of the Japan Innovation Party (JIP), signed the deal in front of the media.
