Power division to sign MoU with ministries, offices on rooftop solar systems

According to an official statement released today, the Power Division will sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with five relevant ministries, divisions, and departments tomorrow in order to establish rooftop solar power plants as part of a government plan.

According to a statement from the energy ministry, the agreement will be signed at a ceremony at Bidyut Bhaban by the primary and mass education ministry, the health services division, the secondary and higher education division, the technical and madrasah education division, and the women and family welfare division.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, signatory organizations would carry out the “National Rooftop Solar Programme Initiative ‘B’,” which covers healthcare and educational establishments.

The ceremony will be presided over by Dr. Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Adviser for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources.
 
National Rooftop Solar Programme Initiatives aim to increase renewable energy share in the country’s total power generation under OPEX model, subscription-like payments for the service where the institutions will not have to bear installation expenses for the solar projects.
 
The statement said the introduction of the system would largely save their electricity bills.
