July National Charter signing ceremony rescheduled for Oct 17

In order to increase public engagement, the July National Charter signing ceremony has been delayed for October 17.

“The signing ceremony of the July National Charter will be held on October 17, instead of October 15. The decision to shift the event to the weekend was made to ensure greater public participation,” said a press release of the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing here this evening. 

According to the statement, the decision was made during a National Consensus Commission meeting today at the State Guest House in Jamuna, which was chaired by Professor Muhammad Yunus, the commission’s chief adviser.

“The July National Charter signing ceremony is a historic event,” stated Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Dr. Ali Riaz after the meeting. The ceremony will take place on Friday afternoon, October 17, in the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building to guarantee attendance from interested citizens.

The Commission had previously stated that the signing will occur on Wednesday, October 15.

The meeting also decided that representatives from different political parties and alliances will attend the event. In addition, invitations will be extended to individuals from diverse classes and professions to attend the event.

Commission member Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider were present at the meeting.
