In a conversation with the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the European Union’s (EU) delegation to Bangladesh discussed cybersecurity, data protection, and the direction of the nation’s digital economy.
According to the EU delegation here today, BTRC chairman Major General (retd) Md Emdad ul Bari and EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller led their respective sides during the negotiations.
The EU envoy emphasized how crucial it is to protect fundamental rights while encouraging innovation and opening doors for more EU investment.
Highlighting prospects in broadband expansion, 5G deployment and last-mile connectivity, the envoy said the EU remains committed to supporting Bangladesh’s vision of a secure, innovative and inclusive digital future.
Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement, with the EU offering technical expertise under its Global Gateway strategy to help build a safer, more open and better-connected digital Bangladesh.
