France urges Israel to drop West Bank settlement plan

France’s foreign ministry referred to Israel’s proposal to construct thousands of new homes in the West Bank as “a serious violation of international law” and urged it to abandon it on Saturday.

France “condemns with the utmost firmness” Israel’s decision to construct 3,400 dwellings in a particularly controversial area of the occupied West Bank, according to a ministry spokeswoman.

According to a number of nations, the E1 proposal dashes aspirations for a future Palestinian state that is contiguous and has its capital in east Jerusalem.
