Gopalganj curfew continues until 6am tomorrow

The local administration in Gopalganj today announced that the district would remain under curfew until 6:00 AM tomorrow (Saturday) to maintain law and order.

District Magistrate of Gopalganj, Muhammad Kamruzzaman, imposed the curfew from 6:00 PM today to 6:00 AM tomorrow across the entire district to ensure public order, peace, and the security of life and property.

According to a public order issued today, emergency services such as ambulances, fire services, electricity supply companies, and media personnel holding valid curfew passes will be exempt from the restrictions.

The curfew was imposed due to circumstances arising from a roadside meeting of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gopalganj district on July 16, the order stated. This measure follows violent clashes that occurred during the NCP rally, reportedly involving activists of the Awami League and its banned student wing, leading to fatalities and injuries. The curfew has seen multiple extensions and partial relaxations since its initial imposition on July 16.
