Today, the European Union (EU) Delegation in Bangladesh urged all parties involved to participate positively in this process, given that Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has declared a schedule for elections.
“The Chief Adviser has announced a timeline leading to elections. The EU has consistently supported Bangladesh’s political transition, calling for it to be underpinned by the rule of law, fundamental rights and lead to democratic elections,” EU said in its verified facebook page after the chief adviser address to the nation on the eve of the Eid-ul-Azha.
The European Union termed it as a pivotal moment for Bangladesh.
“The EU Delegation calls on all stakeholders to engage constructively in this process, and to take forward work to define an ambitious reform agenda that will lead to a more stable, more prosperous and democratic Bangladesh,” read the statement.
The next national elections will take place on any day during the first part of April 2026, according to Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ announcement today.
