The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) today pushed 153 individuals into Bangladesh through the Sylhet and Moulvibazar borders, according to security and law enforcement officials. All 153 individuals were subsequently detained by members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
“We’ve detained 32 people from Nayabazar border of Beanibazar upazila under Sylhet district, 79 from Latu border, and 42 from Pallathal border of Barlekha upazila under Moulvibazar district,” stated Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan, Captain of BGB-52, to BSS.
Following interrogation, Lieutenant Colonel Hasan confirmed, “We have confirmed their identity as Bangladeshi nationals.”
Of the 153 individuals, 51 are children, 49 are males, and the remainder are women. They have all been handed over to the respective Beanibazar and Barlekha police stations.
