Mild to moderate heat wave sweeps over parts of country

The country is experiencing a mild to moderate heat wave, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today.

“Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi division and the districts of Tangail, Manikgonj, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Jashore and Chuadanga and it may continue,” said a BMD bulletin issued this morning commencing 9am.

Rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, the BMD predicted. 

Other parts of the country may have a brief period of partly overcast skies with mostly dry conditions.

Over the nation, the daytime and nighttime temperatures might not fluctuate much.

Tetulia in Rangpur division and Sylhet district in Sylhet division recorded the lowest temperature of the day at 22.0 degrees Celsius, while Rajshahi district in Rajshahi division recorded the nation’s highest temperature on Thursday at 39.0 degrees Celsius.

In the capital, the sun sets at 6:25 p.m. tonight and rises at 5:28 a.m. tomorrow.
