From April 6–10, 2025, a German team comprising various business players has arrived in Dhaka for a five-day visit.
According to a press release released today by the German embassy in Dhaka, the delegation comprised representatives from the German Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI), the German Export Credit Agency (Euler Hermes), GIZ, and business representatives.
The German Asia-Pacific commercial Association (OAV), a crucial network that advances German commercial interests throughout Asia and acts as a strategic partner for German companies looking to enter or expand in the area, is in charge of coordinating the mission.
German Ambassador to Bangladesh Achim Tröster welcomed the first such mission from Germany since the Interim Government took office.
“We appreciate the initiative by OAV to bring a delegation to Bangladesh at the exact right time, to witness first-hand the potential and opportunities that Bangladesh offers as well as the reform progress made,” he said marking the occasion.
Beginning tomorrow, the delegation will participate in the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, which is being organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) in collaboration with the Chief Advisor’s Office. The visit began with a briefing hosted by the German Embassy in Dhaka.
According to the German embassy, Germany is still one of Bangladesh’s most important economic partners, with USD 9.81 billion in total bilateral commerce in 2024.
“This visit underscores Germany’s strong belief in Bangladesh’s economic potential and its commitment to expand bilateral trade to mutual benefit,” read the release.
