Today, Dr. Comfort Ero, president and CEO of the world’s top conflict resolution organization, “International Crisis Group,” met with Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, vice-chairman of the National Consensus Commission.
According to a news statement signed by Paban Chowdhury, the National Consensus Commission’s Public Relations Officer, the meeting took place in the meeting room of the organization’s office in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
The meeting discussed various issues including the progress of the work of the National Consensus Commission, the release added.
Speaking in the meeting, Dr Ali Riaz, also the Constitutional Reform Commission Chief, said that discussions have begun with political parties to create a national consensus on reforms.
Before Eid, he said, the commission will have discussions with at least four parties.
He added that following the Eid vacations, talks will be conducted in stages with the other parties.
Dr. Ali Riaz added that 38 political parties have already received spreadsheet-formatted letters asking for their detailed thoughts on the significant suggestions made by various bodies.
“So far, 16 political parties have provided their opinions to the commission,” he said.
Among those present at the meeting were Thomas Kean, Senior Consultant at International Crisis Group, and Pierre Prakash, Director of Program (Asia).
