For an additional two months, the Bangladesh Armed Forces commissioned officers with the rank of captain and higher have been granted magistracy authority.
In this context, a notification was released today by the Ministry of Public Administration.
According to the notification, this clause will take effect on March 15 and last for the following sixty days.
The same authority has also been granted to military officers on deputation in the Bangladesh Border Guard and Coast Guard (BGB).
Being empowered with the magistracy power, army officers can take the crimes under sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95 (2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133 and 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure into their cognizance and take necessary actions.
Earlier on September 17, the government gave the magistracy power to commissioned officers of the armed forces for two months. Later, it was extended two times for 60 days each.
Now, the powers have been extended for 60 more days.
