Russia fires over 40 missiles at Ukraine’s energy sector: Zelensky

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that Russia had attacked Ukraine’s energy sector with more than 70 attack drones and 40 missiles during the course of the night.

“This strike featured around 40 missiles, including ballistic missiles. At least thirty were destroyed. There were also more than 70 Russian attack drones overnight,” Zelensky said in a statement on social media.

The bombardment occurred a day after Kyiv claimed to have launched the war’s biggest aircraft assault against Russian army industrial and energy facilities hundreds of kilometers away from the front line.

According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia launched 74 attack drones and 43 cruise and ballistic missiles during the overnight bombardment, which seemed to have mostly targeted locations in western Ukraine.

According to a statement from the Russian defense ministry, its troops have conducted “high precision” attacks on energy facilities that “support the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.”

Additionally, it reiterated that all of the targets had been hit.

However, Zelensky claimed that the Ukrainian air force had shot down 47 drones and 30 missiles.
