In order to see the members of the Tripura Christian community who were impacted by Tuesday’s arson attack, CHT Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma is taking a plane to the Bandarban Hill District this afternoon.
Bandarban Superintendent of Police Shahidullah Kawser and Shah Mujahid Uddin, the district’s deputy commissioner, have already paid visits to the 19 families whose temporary residences were set on fire during the assault.
According to a statement sent by the top adviser’s press wing, the families have received immediate food and assistance supplies from the district authorities.
According to district officials, the burned-out houses were the displaced “Tong” dwellings of the impacted families, who have permanent residences in a nearby Lama hamlet.
Police said an FIR has been filed over the arson incident.
Six members of the rival Tripura Christian community and a Bengali Muslim have been charged in connection with the incident by the Tripura community elder who submitted the FIR.
Four persons have been arrested by police in connection with the event.
The arson may be connected to a long-standing animosity between two groups of Tripura community members, according to preliminary police investigations.
Police have increased their efforts to apprehend the offenders and are actively investigating the event.
The administration has requested that authorities investigate the attack’s motivation as soon as possible.
