Following the release of video of the 20-year-old hostage by Hamas earlier this evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a conversation with Edan Alexander’s family, according to the Times of Israel, which cited the prime minister’s office.

Netanyahu told the family during the phone that he “really feels the anguish that Edan, the hostages, and their families are going through.”

The family was also informed by him “that Israel is working resolutely and in every way possible” to secure the hostages’ release.

Israel Katz, the defence minister, added that he had a conversation with Alexander’s relatives. “The cruel video that was published is part of psychological warfare, but it is an important and moving sign of life for us and his family,” Katz posted to X.

“The hostages and their families are enduring terrible suffering. I know this, and guarantee that in the security establishment, we are working tirelessly to bring all the hostages home,” he added.
