Today, Land Adviser AF Hassan Ariff asked everyone, regardless of religious beliefs, to refrain from blaming any party, organisation, or group for the illegal actions of a member of that group or organisation.
This request was made by Hassan Ariff, who was the main guest at the local Circuit House this afternoon during a conversation. As a special guest, City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain gave a speech during the event.
According to Hasan Ariff, a person’s social, political, and religious identities should not be taken into account in order to hold them accountable for terrorist crimes.
“He will get punishment according to the law of the land for his crime…It won’t be right to point fingers at any organization, party or group for any criminal activities,” he added.
Regarding the arrest of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das, he said he (Chinmoy Das) was removed from the organisation earlier. It (ISKCON) has issued a press release to this end.
Taking part at the discussion, the city mayor said law and order was disrupted since August 5 by terrorist activities in the name of religion.
“I wanted to say that Chattogram city will be safe for everyone regardless of religion or caste. There will be no extortion, no terrorists, no violence,” he added.
The city Mayor expressed grief at the killing of advocate Saiful Islam alias Alif when ISKCON supporters involved in a fierce clash with the police personnel on Tuesday at the port city demanding release of Chinmoy Krishna Das.
“I went to see him (Adv. Alif) in the hospital. I think that whoever carried out the heinous crime in the name of religion or caste. He or she must be awarded the maximum punishment,” Dr Sahadat said.
Central Coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, and Russell Ahmed were in attendance, along with Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam.
