Mansour Chavoshi, the Iranian ambassador in Dhaka, visited Brig. Gen. (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, the shipping, labour, and employment adviser, at his secretariat office today.
The Iranian ambassador conveyed to the current interim government the collaboration and support of his nation. According to the ambassador, the Iranian and Bangladeshi governments have a long history of good relations and share religious and cultural characteristics. The ambassador also stated that the two nations’ current relationship is steadily strengthening.
According to the ambassador, Iran has been importing jute and jute-related products from Bangladesh, while Bangladesh imports natural liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Iran. The ambassador also stated that the people of both countries could benefit from re-enforcing their commercial relations and exploring existing facilities and opportunities.
The shipping adviser welcomed Iran’s willingness and informed the ambassador that Bangladesh is always in charge of shipping while upholding the global standard for maritime navigation. According to Brig Sakhawat, the two nations have had long-standing commercial ties in the past. He also mentioned that Bangladesh is a significant partner for businesses with a Middle Eastern focus.
He said there is a vast scope of expansion of export and import between the two countries. The adviser also emphasized on enhancing inter-relations between the business communities of Iran and Bangladesh. Senior Secretary to the Shipping Ministry Mohammad Yousuf and other senior officials of the ministry were present during the call on.
