Brigadier General (Retired) M Sakhawat Hossain, the Adviser for Shipping, Textiles, and Jute, issued orders to transfer the commodities to the Pangaon River Port as quickly as possible in order to increase the port’s productivity and profitability.
Because of its position, Pangason is an important river port. He stated that the interim government is making every effort to turn the port a profit.
According to a news release, the shipping advisor made this statement following a tour of Pangaon River Port, Ananda Shipyard, Dockyard and Engineering Works, and Deck and Engine Personnel Training Centre (DEPTC) to assess the port’s ongoing projects and operations.
Additionally, the adviser instructed the district commissioner to acquire land in order to initiate the construction of parks and jetties under the supervision of BIWTC. Additionally, he requested that the relevant authorities take action to start tourist cruises and floating restaurants.
According to him, a meeting to decide on cargo prices on the Chittagong-Pangaon sea route—which were raised during the previous government’s tenure—will take place shortly.
The advisor urged the relevant authorities to refrain from public pain and procrastination in the guise of inspection.According to the adviser, shipbuilding has a lot of potential for the nation, and the administration is committed to seeing it through to completion.
Government is taking steps to encourage foreign investors to invest in the shipbuilding industry, he added.
Shakhawat said there are many irregularities and mismanagement and influence of syndicates in the ports. All ports including Chattogram Port will be freed from syndicates very soon, he said.
