According to the Bangladeshi embassy in Beirut, an Israeli attack in Lebanon killed a Bangladeshi expatriate who was en route to work.
The embassy said today that the incident happened on Saturday afternoon (local time) in the Grazmiye neighbourhood of Beirut.
With passport number EF0620043, the deceased has been identified as Mohammad Nizam Uddin, 31, son of Mohammad Abdul Quddus from the Khaira region in Kasba Upazila under Brahmanbaria.
Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan, Bangladesh’s ambassador to Lebanon, sent his profound condolences for the expatriate worker’s untimely demise.
He honoured the deceased as a “remittance fighter” for his contribution to Bangladesh’s economy, offered his condolences to the family, and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace forever.
A foreign ministry official here stated that the deceased’s widow is in Lebanon and that the Bangladesh Embassy is keeping in touch with her.
“She has been informed that due to the lack of available flights amid the ongoing conflict, it will not be possible to bring the body back to Bangladesh,” stated the officer.
