Bangladesh face Nepal tomorrow to defend SAFF title

In the final match of the seven-nation SAFF Women’s Championship, which is set for tomorrow (Wednesday) at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal, defending champions Bangladesh will play host Nepal.

Bangladesh time, the game begins at 6:45 p.m.

After Sabina and company made history in the 2022 SAFF tournament by defeating the hosts 3-1 in the final to win their first SAFF title, this will be the second time Bangladesh will face Nepal in the SAFF final.

Bangladesh has a good chance of winning the SAFF title again because of their outstanding performance throughout the competition.

With a stunning hat-trick from forward Tohura Khatun, the Sabina and Co. thrashed Bhutan 7-1 in the first semifinal encounter to secure their place in the final.

In their group face encounters, Bangladesh has also displayed a strong football style. After playing to a 1-1 draw with Pakistan in their first group encounter, they defeated India, the five-time SAFF winners, 3-1 in their last group match to win the title.

Peter Butler, the head coach of the Bangladeshi team, must be hoping for the similar effort from his players in the encounter against Nepal.

However, following a difficult second semifinal encounter against India, Nepal, the five-time SAFF runners-up, guaranteed a position in the final. After a 1-1 draw in the allotted time, the game was decided by a penalty shootout, which the home team ultimately won by a score of 4–2.

Prior to this, Nepal’s group opener against Bhutan ended in a goalless draw, but they recovered to defeat the Maldives 11-0.

In the last group match, the Himalayan team defeated Sri Lanka by a score of 6-0 goals to win the group.
