Nearly 7,000 people cross into Syria from Lebanon in past day – Russian military

Oleg Igansyuk, deputy head of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a branch of the Russian defence ministry), stated that in the last 24 hours, around 7,000 individuals crossed into Syria from Lebanon.

“Over the past day, as many as 6,886 people crossed Syria’s border from Lebanon via the checkpoints of Al-Arida, Al-Jawasiyeh, Al-Dabousiyah, Jisr Qamar, and Jdaidet Yabous,” added the official.

He said that ten more refugees, consisting of one male, two women, and seven children, were assisted by the Russian Reconciliation Centre and the Syrian authorities in leaving the Rukban camp in the al-Tanf area, where the humanitarian situation is perilous.
