The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will be reconstructed by next week, and it will be able to begin operations on a full scale within a month, according to Law Adviser Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul’s statement today.
“We hope that the full scale judicial proceedings at ICT would begin within a month while the tribunal will be reconstituted within a week,” he said.
Following a discussion at the Supreme Court here with the Chief Justice and other justices of the Appellate Division, the law adviser made these remarks to reporters.
In order to improve coordination and cooperation, Dr. Asif stated that the issues facing the judiciary as well as the areas of overlap between the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs were discussed in the discussion.
He said that there has been a major advancement in the appointment of judges in the ICT with the appointment of 23 new justices to the High Court.
“Until now, when judges were sought for the tribunal, it was often stated by the Supreme Court that there was a significant shortage of judges. Now, I hope that issue has largely been resolved,” the law advisor said.
