Mild heat wave over 5 places likely to abate: BMD

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasted today that the current mild to moderate heat wave, which is now occurring in five different parts of the nation, will likely end in some locations within the next 24 hours, starting at 9 a.m.

“Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions and the districts of Sylhet and Jashore and it may abate from some places,” stated a statement from the met office this morning.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy fall at places over the country,” it stated.

Nonetheless, the country’s day and nighttime temperatures might not vary much.

The country’s highest temperature was recorded on Saturday at 39.4 degrees Celsius in Sayedpur, in the Rangpur division, while the lowest temperature of the day was recorded at 23.5 degrees Celsius in Feni, in the Chattogram division, and Srimangal, in the Sylhet division.

Up till this morning at six in the morning, 54 mm of rain fell in the Feni area of Chattogram Division.

In the capital, the sun rises at 5:48 am tomorrow and sets at 5:54 pm today.
