Md. Touhid Hossain, the Foreign Advisor, has restated the resolve of the interim government to carrying out an unbiased and globally reputable inquiry into the recent massacre in Bangladesh and guaranteeing that the proper legal procedures are observed.
At the OIC’s 50th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Cameroon, he made the statement while outlining the circumstances that led to the second revolution—a mass rebellion of people spearheaded by the brave students in Bangladesh.
According to a news release from the foreign ministry issued today, the foreign adviser led a group of two representatives from Bangladesh to the CFM, which was held from August 29 to 30 in Yaound, the capital of Cameroon. Hossain updated the group on Bangladesh’s entry into the UN Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances during the CFM.
He restated Bangladesh’s commitment to establishing a peace process for Palestine, condemning Islamophobia and hate crimes against Muslims, and continuing its interactions with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The foreign adviser added that by improving Bangladesh’s infrastructure for communication and transportation, Dhaka is eager to expand commerce and investment with the OIC’s member nations.The focus of this year’s CFM was “Intra OIC transportation and communication infrastructure,” and a number of topics related to politics, economy, society, culture, and security were covered.
A unanimous decision on the “Situation of the Rohingya Muslim Community in Myanmar” was made in order to maintain the pressure on the Burmese government.
On the fringes of the CFM, Foreign Adviser Hossain also held a call-on with his colleagues from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan.
In the meantime, the OIC Ad Hoc Ministerial Committee on Accountability for Human Rights Violations Against the Rohingyas had an open-ended meeting on August 29 in conjunction with the CFM.
The foreign adviser outlined the current state of affairs in the Rakhine State and urged everyone to keep up the pressure on Myanmar from the outside world in order to find a swift resolution to the issue.
