The counselor to the ministries of liberation war affairs and disaster management, Bir Protik Faruk E Azam, declared that any phony freedom fighters found would face consequences for ‘deceiving’ the government.
He said this during a press conference about the city’s law and order crisis held on Saturday at the Chattogram Circuit House.
“Scrutinising the list of freedom fighters, we can see the reality of what happened. They have become freedom fighters in many forms and ways,” said Faruk.
“We will examine the issue (fake freedom fighters) and those who are genuine freedom fighters will remain on the list. The fake ones will be dropped. Many of them should be punished for deceiving the state.”
“I have asked the ministry to look into the reality of the situation,” he added.
Afterwards, the Advisor spoke with the officers in the police station in Kotwali that had caught fire. In an effort to normalize the operations of the police stations, he also asked the community for assistance.
On the occasion were prominent officials from several Chattogram law enforcement agencies, including Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Fakhruzzaman and Commissioner Saiful Islam of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
