A news release issued by Md Makruzzaman, Deputy Director Communication of the Mongla Port Authority (MPA), announced here today that 58 metric tonnes of garlic were imported through Mongla Sea Port for the first time on Sunday.
Yesterday, the “MV MARKS DAVAO,” a ship flying the Singaporean flag, anchored at the jetty. At the jetty, 229 TUES containers were unloaded. According to the press release, two of the container’s 40-foot-long containers were filled with 58 metric tonnes of garlic.
The foreign commercial ship departed from the Chinese seaport of “Quing Doo” on July 18 and arrived at the MPA jetty on July 28. According to port officials, the 58 tonnes of garlic on board would be unloaded following a mandatory inspection by the Mongla Custom House.
From July 1 to July 27, 57 foreign commercial ships carrying 5,95 lakh metric tons of cargo, 1,474 TUES containers, and 1,349 automobiles arrived at the MPA dock.
According to the press release, the ships carrying export products included vehicles, fertilizer, coal, stone, gas, gypsum, fly ash, soyabin and pum oil, cotton, shrimp, white fish, and jute. They also carried machinery.
