The inaugural ‘ERF-PRAN Media Award’ was jointly introduced in the nation by PRAN, the pioneer in the agro-processing industry, and Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF).
The journalists will be honored with this award for their insightful coverage of the nation’s agro-processing industry.
The news was released during a press conference that took place today at the Purana Paltan ERF headquarters in the capital.
Print, web, and television are the three categories in which the ERF-PRAN Media Award-2024 will be given out. A five-member jury board will thoroughly evaluate the reports that the journalists submitted between May 1 and July 31. Seven journalists will be recognized for their work.
Journalists are encouraged to submit reports on a variety of topics related to the agriculture industry, including integrated farming, contemporary farming systems, marketing of agricultural products, good agricultural practices, and the sector’s growth for the benefit of farmers and agriculture.
Furthermore, the committee recommended discussing issues such as the agro-processing industry’s business environment, prospects, problems, new investment, creation of jobs, social impact, supply chain, exports, and future opportunities.
Addressing the program, Kamruzzaman Kamal, marketing director of PRAN-RFL Group said, “Agro-processing sector is a potential sector in contributing the economic development of the nation. With proper guidance, the sector could become major player in exports following the success of the ready-made garment industry.”
He said journalists, who are making reports regularly on the agro-processing sector are playing important role in moving forward this sector.
“We’re very happy to be part of the initiative.”
According to Kamal, PRAN has 1.15 lakh contact farmers nationwide, and the company assists these farmers in growing higher-quality crops.
The marketing director for the PRAN-RFL group also promised to support the ERF going forward.
The head of ERF, Refayet Ullah Mirdha, stated: “Reporting on the agro-processing sector is highly important. Farmers, businesses, and the nation’s economy as a whole benefit from the sector report.”
Senior group officials, Touhiduzzaman, the assistant general manager (public relations) of the PRAN-RFL group, Abul Kashem, the general secretary of ERF, and executive members of ERF were also present at the program.
