Israel launches strike against Iran: US media

According to US media on Thursday night, Israel has struck back at Iran for its attack over the weekend.

Citing US authorities, ABC, CBS, CNN, and other media outlets announced the strikes early on Friday morning in the Middle East. The White House did not immediately provide a statement.

In response to an AFP inquiry, the Pentagon duty desk stated: “We do not have anything to offer at this time.”

Iran activated its air defense system over several cities, state media reported, after the country’s official broadcaster said explosions were heard near the central city of Isfahan.

After Iran fired hundreds of missiles and drones at its bitter enemy over the weekend, Israel threatened to retaliate. The majority of them were thwarted.

Following an attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, which was largely attributed to Israel, followed that strike.
