Shanto becomes highest-paid Bangladesh player

Following an increase in his captaincy salary by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), all-around star Shakib Al Hasan was surpassed by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the all-format captain of Bangladesh, as the best paid player in the nation.

The captain’s salary was raised from Taka 40,000 to Taka 1 lakh during the most recent board meeting. Currently participating in all cricket formats, Shanto is rated as a category A+ player and earns Taka 7.90 lakh a month.

The skipper receives a salary of 1 lakh more, making his total compensation Taka 8.90 lakh. Shakib earns Taka 7.90 lakh per year as a three-format player.

Shanto is the captain of all three formats, but only one format will take his pay into account.

With the exception of the captain’s compensation, the income of cricket players was not raised this year; however, the match fee did increase. The cost of an ODI match now stands at Taka 4 lakh, up from Taka 3 lakh, while the Test match charge has jumped to Taka 8 lakh from Taka 6 lakh. The entry cost for T20 matches has been raised from Taka 2 lakh to Taka 2.50 lakh.
