The goal of today’s World Thinking Day, which is being observed nationwide as well as globally, is to create an environmentally sustainable future free from poverty for young women and girls.
‘Our World, Our Thriving Future: The environment and global poverty’ is this year’s subject of the day, chosen by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), according to an official announcement made available online today.
Every year on February 22, all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts commemorate World Thinking Day.
According to the WAGGGS website, World Thinking Day has been observed since 1926 and is a day of friendship across nations.
It is an opportunity to speak out on issues that affect young women and fundraise for 8.9 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 152 countries, the website added.
