According to a UN assessment released on Friday that will form the basis of the crucial COP28 climate negotiations, global greenhouse gas emissions must peak by 2025 and then quickly decline thereafter if mankind is to limit global warming in accordance with Paris Agreement targets.
According to the UN’s first Global Stocktake of progress toward attaining the goals of the 2015 Paris deal, emissions have already peaked in some rich and a few developing nations, but are still rising in many of the major economies in the world.
