Since 2019, the domestic intelligence service has been keeping an eye on the Young Alternatives for signs of right-wing extremism. This is now considered a confirmed case of extremism.
The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) youth wing has been classed as an extremist group that threatens democracy, according to Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV).
The domestic espionage agency began watching Young Alternatives for suspected extremism in 2019, but it is now being tracked as a verified case of right-wing extremism.
According to the statement, the group “promotes a racial concept of society based on basic biological assumptions.”
Also mentioned in Wednesday’s announcement were two other groups that would now be classified as extremist entities: the Institute for State Policy and the One Percent group.
There is no longer any doubt that these three associations of persons are pursuing anti-constitutional endeavors,” said BfV President Thomas Haldenwang.
“They are therefore classified and processed by the BfV as confirmed right-wing extremist endeavors.”
