Shakib al Hasan, the Bangladeshi all-rounder, has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2021 for his outstanding performances in all three formats of international cricket.
Last month, Shakib’s performances helped Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe in a series. In the second One-Day International, Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by three wickets at Harare Sports Club.
Shakib grabbed three wickets at an economy rate of seven in the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, leading his side to a series win.
In the MRF ICC Men’s T20 Rankings, the great Bangladesh cricketer is also the top men’s all-rounder, while his Test ranking as an all-rounder is No 5.
“Being named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2021 is quite humbling. Throughout the month, there have been many excellent performances, which is why this is so meaningful to me. I get the most pleasure and satisfaction from contributing to victories, thus I am overjoyed to have contributed to Bangladesh’s recent successes,” Shakib stated in response to his honour.
Bangladesh won the lone Test, the ODI series by 3-0, and the T20I series by 2-1 during their nearly month-long visit to Zimbabwe in July.
The team continued its winning streak by defeating Australia 4-1 at home in a five-match T20I series earlier this month.
Mushfiqur Rahim, a wicketkeeper-batsman, was the first Bangladesh cricketer to win the ICC award for the month of May 2021.
