At least six people have died in avalanches and landslides in India

At least six people have been killed in a landslide in Uttarakhand, India.

The security ministry claimed that 364 people had been rescued as of Saturday. Six of the survivors are in critical condition. They are being treated at a local hospital.

Authorities said snow and landslides suddenly struck Chamoli district on Friday. It has an isolated communication system with 4-5 important areas. The army is keen to speed up the connection of fast roads.

More than two hundred people lost their lives in the floods caused by the avalanche in Chamoli district in February this year. Two hydropower projects were also washed away.
