US envoy meets FS, visits Lalbagh Fort

Today, US Special Envoy Charles Harder visited Lalbagh Fort and met with Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam to promote bilateral cooperation, emphasizing Washington’s dedication to sustainable tourism and cultural preservation in Bangladesh.

Foreign Secretary Siam met with US Ambassador Brent T. Christensen and Special Envoy Harder in order to fortify alliances that will benefit both nations’ future generations.

According to a statement from the US Embassy in Dhaka, the envoy and Deputy Chief of Mission Megan Bouldin visited Lalbagh Fort on Sunday at the Department of Archaeology’s invitation.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Mughal-era Hammam Khana, which has been restored with support from the US Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation.

The US side reiterated its commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage, noting that such initiatives contribute to sustainable tourism and promote cultural exchange.

Built in the 17th century, Lalbagh Fort remains one of Dhaka’s most prominent historical landmarks, attracting both local and international visitors throughout the year.
