Tuhid seeks Philippines support for sustainable Rohingya solutions

In order to find a long-term solution to the Rohingya issue, Foreign Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain today called on the Philippines to play a vital role as an Asean member state.

He also asked the Philippines to back Bangladesh’s application to join Asean’s sectoral dialogue.

According to a ministry press statement, the adviser made the requests during a courtesy call with Nina Padilla Cainglet, the recently appointed Philippine ambassador to Bangladesh, at the foreign ministry here.

Bilateral trade and investment, direct air connectivity, renewable energy, education, nursing education, agriculture, and pending bilateral instruments between the two nations were the main topics of discussion during the meeting.

According to Ambassador Cainglet, the Philippines is getting ready to hold the third foreign office consultations (FOC) shortly in order to talk about both new and current bilateral concerns.

The ambassador conveyed her strong desire to engage on matters of shared interest between the two nations.

Both reiterated their dedication to enhancing ties between the Philippines and Bangladesh.
