Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced Thursday that France had shipped the first batch of Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine to assist Kyiv in defending its airspace against Russia.
Lecornu stated on X that “the first of these aircraft have arrived in Ukraine today,” but he did not specify the number of planes that had been sent. He said that “they will now help defend Ukraine’s skies” after France had assisted in training Ukrainian pilots in recent months.
