Pope Francis called on Donald Trump, the future president of the United States, to lead a society that has “no room for hatred” and to encourage “peace and reconciliation among peoples” on Monday.
The head of the Catholic Church wrote in a statement prior to Trump’s inauguration, “It is my hope that under your leadership the American people will prosper and always strive to build a more just society, where there is no room for hatred, discrimination, or exclusion.”
