After more than 15 months of fighting Hamas militants, the Israeli military announced on Saturday that four soldiers had lost their lives in fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.
Following Israel’s ground offensive in retribution for Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack, the number of troops dead in Palestinian territory has now reached 403.
The military said in a statement that an officer and a reservist soldier were “seriously wounded” in the same event and were sent to a hospital.
Since early October, Israel has launched a fierce offensive in northern Gaza, claiming the goal is to stop Hamas from reorganizing.
Three militants were killed in a ground operation near Jabalia in northern Gaza, the IDF reported on Saturday.
According to an AFP count of official Israeli estimates, Hamas’s surprise October 7 strike, which killed 1,208 people, primarily civilians, was the catalyst for the conflict.
According to the United Nations-reliable health ministry numbers in the Hamas-run enclave, Israel’s retaliatory military attack in Gaza has killed 46,537 individuals, the majority of whom were civilians.
