BPA to sell eggs, chicken at fair prices from Jan 12

As part of its smart market management plan to stabilize the prices of these two commodities in the approaching Holy Month of Ramadan, the Bangladesh Poultry Association (BPA) will begin selling chicken and eggs at fair rates at 20 locations throughout the capital on January 12.

The news was made by BPA President Sumon Hawlader during a press conference today at the capital’s Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

“We’ll gradually expand the initiative to 100 points, selling eggs, frozen chicken, and other agricultural products at a limited profit,” he said.

According to Sumon, the BPA supply chain would include experienced workers and entrepreneurs, such as University of Dhaka students interested in working in agriculture and improving producer-consumer relations.

According to the BPA President, the abilities and passion of those involved would make this project more successful and hasten the growth of the nation’s market management and agricultural industries.

Highlighting a 10-point charter of demands before the government, Sumon said that the marginal farmers ensure 80 percent of the country’s eggs and chicken production, but corporate groups contribute only 20 percent.

Among those present on the event were BPA Vice President Bappi Kumar Dey, General Secretary Md. Ilias Khandaker, Joint General Secretary Md. Kausar Ahmed, Organizing Secretary Md. Iqbal Hossain, and Office Secretary Md. Mejbaul Haque.

All of the central committee members were also present, along with a sizable number of marginal farmers from every district and upazila that raised hens and eggs.
