SAFE winning women football players are given a reception by the Army and BOA

According to an ISPR press release today, the Bangladesh Women’s Football Team received a reception from the Bangladesh Armed Forces and Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) in recognition of their accomplishment of winning the SAFF Women’s Football Championship-2024 at Bay Watch in Inani, Cox’s Bazar.

It stated that Army Chief General Wakar-Uz-Zaman was the main guest at the reception, along with Admiral M. Nazmul Hasan of the Navy and Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, the Chief of Air Force.

On behalf of the Bangladesh Army and the Bangladesh Olympic Association, crests, presents and a Tk one crore cheque were given to the players, coaches and other team members.

“The women’s football team of Bangladesh can move forward with the inspiration of this victory,” the army chief said. 

In the days ahead, he anticipated that Bangladeshi women football players will improve the nation’s reputation abroad and inspire new ideas in the nation’s sports scene.

In the tournament’s last match, which took place in Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 30, 2024, the women’s team from Bangladesh defeated Nepal 2-1.

This was the Bangladeshi team’s second such triumph.

The competition’s Best Player and Best Keeper prizes went to Rituparna Chakma and Rupana Chakma, two outstanding members of the team.

Senior officers from the army, navy, and air force, as well as senior representatives from the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and the BOA, were in attendance, along with members of the media and other dignitaries.
